Today people all over the world have the wonderful opportunity to take a step back and realize what they are thankful for. What a fantastic day to have my first post on my blog!
This day has been filled with countless miracles and blessings. My companion and I went to an activity put on by the local church members called the Turkey Bowl this morning. We played football and were able to get to know both members of the church and their friends a lot better, and have a blast doing it!
The rest of our Thanksgiving was filled with three (yes, three) Thanksgiving gatherings with great families. I loved each dinner for their own special reasons. One of the dinners was with a man we have been teaching and his family. One of the most heart-warming things was the prayer he humbly gave at the close. He told God everything he was thankful for and you could feel the spirit in the room. Then at the close of his prayer he stood up and hugged his wife. That is one of the most amazing things about being a missionary.
I just wanted to tell y'all real quick what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my Savior and the fact that through Him, I can be saved. I am so blessed to be a missionary and to see people from all backgrounds and watch the Spirit change them. I am thankful for my family and friends back home and their constant support for me. I am thankful for good health. I am thankful for this country we live in and the men and women who fight for our freedom. I am incredibly thankful for all the modern conveniences we have. But most of all, I am grateful for my Heavenly father who gives me all these things... even though I KNOW I deserve none of it. He loves us more than we can imagine.
I would love to hear what things y'all are thankful for. So,
What are you thankful for?
I am thankful for an awesome wife and four great kids, two of which are serving missions one in New Mexico and one in North Carolina. It makes a Dad proud to see his kids joy in serving others.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for awesome missionaries like you. (and of course my son, Ronnie) You are blessing so many lives! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, I love to hear the things people are thankful for. Ronnie is definitely an amazing missionary right now. I am thankful for his words of wisdom to me. He helped me grow and learn how to serve others while he was here in North Carolina.
